The inspiration to embark on this transformative journey emerged during a heartfelt conversation between our founder, David Agbanwu, and his father during a visit to Nigeria in January 2021.
In the course of their discussion, David's father shared the enduring struggles that communities in Nigeria continued to face due to unreliable power supply. Recalling his own childhood experiences, David vividly remembered the daily obstacles created by the absence of consistent electricity—homework in dimly lit rooms and the reliance on gasoline or diesel generators, bringing with them not only environmental pollution but also significant health risks.
Despite spending almost a decade abroad, David returned to Nigeria in 2021 only to find that the electricity landscape remained largely unchanged since his departure in 2013. Witnessing the persistent challenges firsthand, the seed of Lytup was planted. The realization that millions of families were still grappling with the same power issues fueled David's determination to make a meaningful change.
Lytup envisions a future where reliable, clean, and sustainable power is accessible to all, starting with Sub-Saharan Africa and extending to other regions globally that face similar struggles. These solutions, ranging from small to medium sized battery systems, boast a remarkable lifespan of up to fifteen (15) years.
